Kite Festival on the shores of the lake (at the old airport near Castiglione del Lago).
Open to anyone (beginners and experts) and to those who simply want to watch and enjoy the colours in the sky.

Three teams carry large woodden candles race around the main square then up the mountain. A must see event!

Competitors wear historical costumes and use medieval fixed crossbows.

The town´s streets are covered overnight in beautiful pieces of artwork, created entierely from fresh flowers and grasses.

JUNE
FOLIGNO - GIOSTRA DELLA QUINTANA www.quintana.it
Inspired by a horseback contest from 17th century, 10 knights, representing the 10 districts of Foligno, attempt to hook a series of links on their lances whilst racing on horseback. Held at night. on the ve of the contest, a procession takes place through the streets.

A medeval event that involves all the town centre. The four districts of Bevagna, called "gaite" offer the ancient atmosphere of a medieval market.

World famous jazz festival with a lot of free concerts.

PASSIGNANO SUL TRASIMENO - PALIO DELLE BARCHE www.paliodellebarche.it
It is the only one of its kind in the world. Approx 160 contestants take part in a special race: in a boat from lake to shore, then carrying the boat through the streets, then a final race in the water. Highly spectacular!

It revives the contest between the "Four Gates" of the town, which challenge each other to races in donkey carts and on donkey back.
